Keiko Ueda is an Associate Teaching Professor of Japanese at the University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL), affiliated with the Department of Language and Cultural Studies since 2014. She holds an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from Purdue University (2014). Her research focuses on language pedagogy, instructional technology, Tadoku (extensive reading), and curriculum design. She has extensive teaching experience at institutions like Purdue University, Middlebury College, and Washington and Lee University. Ueda leads study tours to Japan and advises the Japan-America Student Association (JASA). She chairs the department’s Recruitment and Retention Committee and is active in professional organizations such as ACTFL and AATJ.
Her educational background includes a Fulbright grant as a foreign language teaching assistant (2006). She teaches Japanese at all proficiency levels and oversees independent study courses. Research trends in her articles emphasize cultural practices and educational outcomes in Japanese language programs.
