Chiara Trebaiocchi is Senior Preceptor and Coordinator of the Italian Language Program in Romance Languages and Literatures at Harvard University. She holds a B.A. and M.A. from Scuola Normale Superiore and Università di Pisa, with an additional M.A. and Ph.D. from Harvard University.
Research examines:
- Evolution of Italian language education
- 20th-21st century Italian literary culture
- Pedagogical methodologies for second language acquisition
Her published dissertation 'Reschooling Society: Pedagogia come forma di lotta nella vita e nell’opera di Franco Fortini' analyzes pedagogical resistance in Italian cultural history. As Higher Education Co-Chair for the AP Italian Development Committee, she shapes national curriculum standards. Teaching innovations include theme-based courses connecting Italian language learning with contemporary pop literature ('The Colors of Italian Pop Lit'), sustainability studies ('Italiano in Verde'), and social justice frameworks ('Writing for Social Justice').
