Chiara Melloni serves as an Associate Professor in Linguistics within the Department of Culture and Civilisation at the University of Verona. She teaches General Linguistics, Levels of Linguistic Analysis, and specialized linguistics courses across multiple degree programs including Bachelor's degrees in Foreign Languages and Literatures and Humanities, as well as the Master's degree in Linguistics for the 2025/2026 academic year.
Her research expertise spans morphosyntax, lexical semantics, typical and atypical language development (including dyslexia and specific language impairment), and bilingualism. She coordinates the Language, Text and Cognition (LaTec) Laboratory and serves on multiple academic committees including the Quality Assurance Commission for the Master's in Linguistics.
Melloni actively participates in significant research projects such as PRIN PNRR 2022 REAding CompreHension for inclusion (REACH), PerformAbility, and studies on language processing in Italian L1 and L2. Her office is located at Polo Didattico Zanotto, Floor 3, Room 3.05, where she holds office hours on Tuesdays from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
Her work bridges theoretical linguistics with practical applications in educational settings, particularly regarding students with dyslexia and special educational needs. She contributes to third mission activities through public engagement and continuing education initiatives related to bibliotherapy and inclusive language teaching.
