Chiara Gazzini is a Research Fellow at the University of Oslo's IFIKK, focusing on Byzantine studies and the dissemination of Byzantine scholarship in early modern Europe. She holds a PhD in Ancient Classics (University of Rome 'Tor Vergata', 2020) and advanced degrees in Byzantine Literature and Library Science. Her work centers on critical editions of Byzantine texts, manuscript studies, and the cultural history of Greek heritage.

Research interests include the reception of Byzantine scholar Manuel Chrysoloras, Vatican Library acquisitions, and medieval Greek inscriptions in Rome. She co-leads the GrECI project on Greek heritage in European identity and contributes to the journal Νέα Ῥώμη. Recent teaching roles span Classics and Humanities high schools (2020–2023).
Awards: Antonio Garzya Award (2015) for Master’s thesis in Byzantine studies.
Projects: Epigraphy of Byzantine Rome (2022), Giuseppe Mercati brothers' biography, and Greek inscription censuses. Active in collaborative research on Vatican Library’s 20th-century acquisitions.
