Chiara Bacigalupa is a Professor and Faculty Associate Dean of the School of Education at Sonoma State University (SSU). Since 2007, she has served as a Professor in the Department of Early Childhood Studies and as Department Chair since 2012.
- Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with emphasis in Early Childhood Education, University of Minnesota
- M.A. in Educational Psychology with emphasis in Early Childhood Education, California State University Northridge
- B.A. in Philosophy, University of California Santa Cruz
Her research focuses on digital technology use in early childhood, moral development, storytelling, and critical thinking. She explores intersections of social justice in childhood education policy and communication.
Her publications highlight trends in child development through technology (2005), family collaboration via photo collages (2016), and anti-racist pedagogical practices (2016). Work spans qualitative studies on childcare perceptions (2007) to critical analyses of aggression in children's narratives (2009).
