Chia-Ying Wang is a Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at Princeton University, located in Frick Laboratory. Her research focuses on molecular-scale dynamics in complex systems, including polymer properties, photoresist materials, and single-molecule spectroscopy. She holds a B.S. in Chemistry from National Taiwan University (1991) and a Ph.D. in Experimental Physical Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1999). Her postdoctoral work included roles at the University of Minnesota and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
Key research interests include polymer dynamics near the glass transition, block copolymer microstructure transitions, and the development of advanced undergraduate laboratory experiments. Teaching specialties span Experimental Chemistry, Instrumental Analysis, and Physical Chemistry (spectroscopy, computational methods, and thermodynamics).
Her research has explored thin film polymer behavior using neutron reflectometry, interfacial effects in polymers, and phase transitions in block copolymers. Notable contributions include studies on CdSe quantum dots synthesis and water immersion effects in photoresists. Awards include the prestigious Yuan T. Lee Fellowship (1998).
Current projects emphasize bridging cutting-edge research with undergraduate education, particularly in designing accessible experimental protocols for advanced chemistry laboratories. Active collaborations involve material characterization techniques and molecular dynamics modeling.
