Chi-Wang Shu is the Stowell University Professor of Applied Mathematics and former Chair of the Division of Applied Mathematics at Brown University. His research focuses on high-order numerical methods for convection-dominated partial differential equations, including ENO/WENO schemes, discontinuous Galerkin methods, and spectral methods. He has contributed extensively to computational fluid dynamics, semiconductor modeling, and Hamilton-Jacobi equations. Shu has held academic positions at Brown since 1987 and has received accolades such as the SIAM/ACM Prize in Computational Science (2007) and SIAM/AMS Fellowships (2009, 2012). His work bridges theoretical development and practical applications in fluid dynamics, astrophysics, and materials science.
