Chester Koh

Chester Koh, M.D., M.B.A. is Professor of Urology at Baylor College of Medicine and Attending Surgeon in Pediatric Urology at Texas Children's Hospital. He directs the Pediatric Robotic Surgery Program and Pediatric Urology Fellowship while serving as Executive Director of the Southwest National Pediatric Device Consortium (SWPDC) and Faculty Senate Chair-Elect at Baylor.

Dr. Koh earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley (1992), MD from Tufts University (1996), and MBA from University of Illinois (2023), completing surgical training at USC and pediatric urology fellowship at Harvard Medical School. His board certifications include Urology and Pediatric Urology through the American Board of Urology.

His research centers on Pediatric Medical Device Development and Robotic Surgery, leveraging engineering principles to create innovative solutions for children's surgical needs. Through SWPDC, he drives collaboration across multiple institutions to accelerate device commercialization while maintaining clinical focus in Pediatric Urology.

Dr. Koh leads the FDA-funded Southwest National Pediatric Device Innovation Consortium (P50FD007962, $7.4M, 2023-2028) and NIH/NCATS grant (1UM1TR004539-01A1, 2024-2031), supporting pediatric device innovators across the consortium's partner institutions. His clinical program performs advanced robotic procedures while training future specialists through the fellowship.

The SWPDC serves as his primary research ecosystem, connecting Baylor College of Medicine with Texas Children's Hospital, Texas A&M, Rice, University of Houston, and University of Minnesota to develop novel pediatric medical devices through shared regulatory expertise, clinical trial infrastructure, and commercialization resources.
