Cheryl Finley, Ph.D., is the Inaugural Director of Arts and Visual Culture at Spelman College since 2018. She is also the Inaugural Director of the Atlanta University Center Collective for the Study of Art History and Curatorial Studies.

Dr. Finley specializes in the art market and African diaspora art history. Her research explores the global art economy, focusing on the interplay between artists, museums, biennials, and migration, particularly in the context of the African diaspora and Southern Black art.

Dr. Finley's publications, including her books Committed to Memory and My Soul Has Grown Deep, examine themes of cultural memory, transatlantic slavery, and the visual representation of Black identity in the American South.
