Cheran Rudhramoorthy is a Visiting Associate Professor in the Department of Asian Studies at the University of Windsor, Canada. A multidisciplinary scholar, poet, and playwright, his work bridges Tamil literature, sociological inquiry, and the Sri Lankan ethnic conflict. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from York University (2001) and an M.A. with Distinction from the International Institute of Social Studies in The Hague (1989).
His research focuses on the intersection of Tamil identity, civil war trauma, and diasporic experiences. Over 15 books in Tamil have been translated into 20 languages, with notable English translations including In a Time of Burning (2013) and You Cannot Turn Away (2011). His poetry explores themes of loss, exile, and resilience in post-colonial contexts, often framed against the devastation of Sri Lanka's civil war.

His work has been featured in journals like Bomb, Modern Poetry in Translation, and anthologies like Singing in the Dark (2020).
