Dr. Chenoa Cassidy-Matthews (she/her) is an Indigenous Scholar from Sachigo Lake First Nation, affiliated with the Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute's Indigenous Health Research Unit. Raised near Ottawa, she moved to Vancouver in 2016 to pursue graduate studies and earned her PhD in Population and Public Health from the University of British Columbia.

Her research centers on urban Indigenous health, epidemiological trends in global health, public health emergency responses (including impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic), climate resilience, and the revitalization of Indigenous science and governance. She explores intersections between place and health, particularly for displaced Indigenous and migrant populations, with a focus on sustainable food systems and social equity.
As a co-investigator, she contributes to grant-funded projects spanning global Indigenous adolescent health, youth leadership, land-based healing, and arts-based methodologies. She collaborates with the Centre for Collaborative Action on Indigenous Health Governance and engages in mentorship initiatives for Indigenous health research.
Dr. Cassidy-Matthews is actively involved in outdoor activities with Indigenous Women Outdoors, alongside her husband and dog Kya.
