Chenhan Shao is a doctoral student in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning (DUSP) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a graduate researcher at the MIT Sustainable Urbanization Lab. Her work focuses on policy evaluation and behavioral mechanisms related to climate change in the built environment, with projects on building sector mitigation strategies and climate adaptation capacities for hazardous events.

- Master of Public Policy (Energy and Environmental Policy) from Duke University.
- Honors Bachelor of Social Sciences (Government and International Relations) from Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College.
Her research spans climate policy, sustainable urbanization, and disaster risk management, with a focus on energy mandates in multifamily housing, coastal restoration, and offshore wind energy. Recent projects include modeling decarbonization pathways and assessing community engagement in Louisiana's coastal initiatives.
As a graduate researcher in the MIT Sustainable Urbanization Lab, she investigates practical applications of climate-driven policies and resource management frameworks. Prior to MIT, she worked as a research associate in Louisiana, covering coastal restoration and renewable energy development.
