Dr. Cheng Zeng is a Lecturer in Renewable Energy & Sustainable Technologies at the University of Hull’s Energy and Environment Institute. He holds a PhD in Thermal Energy Storage from Coventry University, complemented by a MSc in Construction Management (Distinction) and a BEng in Building Environment and Services Engineering. His research focuses on low-carbon heating/cooling technologies, thermochemical energy storage, and building decarbonization, with notable projects including an £814k EPSRC initiative for near-zero-carbon cooling systems and energy-efficient holiday home designs.

Research interests include data centre cooling innovation, energy-efficient building retrofitting, and renewable energy integration. He actively contributes to professional bodies such as CIBSE and journals like Nature Reviews Clean Technology. Awards include Chartered Engineer (CEng) and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
He supervises MSc and PhD projects on topics like distributed energy systems and community energy management. Current projects include the AOFICEL initiative to enhance energy efficiency in industry-community links (British Academy Grant, £9,450).
