Chen Weizhong is a Professor at the School of Civil Engineering, Shandong University, and a Doctoral Supervisor with expertise in geotechnical engineering. His research focuses on the stability and rheological damage fracture analysis of fractured rock masses under coupled stress and seepage fields. He has led major engineering projects including the Three Gorges Dam, Shuibuya Dam, Xiaowan Dam, Yellow River Diversion Project, and Shanghai-Chengdu West Expressway bifurcated tunnels.
He serves on multiple academic bodies:
- Editorial board member of Rock and Soil Mechanics journal
- Member of Rock Ground Engineering Committee (Chinese Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering)
- Executive Director of Underground Engineering and Underground Space Branch (CSRME)
- Member of Physics and Numerical Simulation Committee (CSRME)
His awards include:
- Two Second-class National Science and Technology Progress Awards
- Two First-class and one Second-class Provincial/Ministerial-level Science and Technology Progress Awards
- Gold Prize of Young Scientists and Engineers Award from CSRME
He has published over 70 core journal articles (10 SCI, 56 EI, 10 ISTP) and holds leadership roles in geotechnical and structural engineering research.
