Chen Wang is the Slayton Endowed Assistant Professor of East Asian Politics in the Department of Politics and Philosophy at the University of Idaho. He holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Virginia (2021), an M.S. from Johns Hopkins University (2015), and M.A./B.A. degrees from the University of International Relations in Beijing. His research examines the interplay between domestic and international politics in shaping China's foreign and security policies.
Publications include analyses of China's counterterrorism approaches, leadership targeting, Belt and Road Initiative security implications, and responses to U.S. partisan politics. Previously held positions include postdoctoral fellowship at Duke University and research affiliations with George Washington University's Elliott School.
