Chen Chin Tyng is a Lecturer in Pastoral Care at LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore, with 16 years of dedicated teaching experience in the Foundation programme since 1996. Born in Johor, Malaysia, she remains actively engaged in shaping arts education through community-integrated pedagogy.
Her academic qualifications include:
- MA of Fine Art from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Australia
- BA Fine Art from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Australia
- Diploma in Jewellery Design from LASALLE College of the Arts
Chen Chin Tyng specializes in Fine Art with concentrated expertise in Jewellery Design and Gold and Silversmithing. Her practice bridges studio art with community engagement, exemplified by projects like the Conrad Centennial Singapore Hotel mural and the National Environment Agency's 'Tower of Treats' sculpture for Clean and Green Week. She champions experiential learning through large-scale collaborations, notably contributing to the Youth Olympic Games 2010 opening performance with fashion students. These initiatives transform public spaces while empowering Foundation students to develop professional skills in real-world contexts.
