Chelsea Stieber is an Associate Professor and Kathryn B. Gore Chair in French, with a focus on Caribbean literature, history, and culture, especially Haiti. She earned her Ph.D. from New York University and serves as Director of Graduate Studies in French.

Her research explores 19th- and early 20th-century Caribbean print culture, political ideology, and Black Atlantic thought. Key themes include civil war, republicanism, postcolonial historiography, and transnational intellectual networks.
Stieber’s work includes 15 recent publications (2023–2018) spanning monographs, journal articles, and digital collaborations. These address topics like Haitian periodical polarization, colonial universalism, and post-independence literary traditions.
