Marlene L. Daut is a Professor of French and African American Studies at Yale University. Her research focuses on the Haitian Revolution, Caribbean literary and historical studies, and racial politics in global media. She holds academic appointments in the Department of French and African American Studies, contributing to interdisciplinary scholarship at the intersection of colonial and postcolonial studies. Daut is a prolific author and editor, with notable works analyzing the intellectual and cultural history of Haiti and the Black Atlantic.
Her research interests include the transatlantic impact of the Haitian Revolution, literary cultures of the Caribbean, and the representation of race in media. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals such as New Literary History, Small Axe, and Studies in Romanticism, alongside public-facing articles in The New Yorker, The New York Times, and Essence Magazine.
