Chelsea L. Greer is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology within the Usha Kundu, MD College of Health at the University of West Florida. As a licensed Counseling Psychologist, she trains students in the LMHC program and previously served as Associate & Training Director at the University of South Alabama Counseling Center and Assistant Professor at Spring Hill College.
Her educational background includes:
- Master’s in Community & School Counseling from Michigan State University
- Master’s and Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University
- Pre-doctoral internship at Virginia Tech’s Thomas E. Cook Counseling Center
Dr. Greer’s clinical expertise centers on trauma-related disorders, vocational assessment, and integrating religion/spirituality in therapy, with research focused on forgiveness processes—examining religious values, social identity, and therapeutic interventions. Her work specifically addresses mental health challenges in young adulthood through value-congruent approaches.
She secured a Templeton Foundation grant to develop mental-health curricula for Mobile, AL church leaders and pioneered the JED Campus program at the University of South Alabama, establishing multidisciplinary teams to reduce suicide/substance abuse through systemic campus safety nets. At UWF, she mentors LMHC students and teaches applied Counseling/Clinical Psychology courses.
