Chelsea Joyner

Chelsea Joyner is an Instructor of Psychology at Emporia State University, where she began her appointment in 2024. She is completing her doctoral degree at Kansas State University, specializing in experimental psychology with a focus on neural mechanisms of sensory processing.

Research Focus

Her work investigates auditory-tactile integration in learning and memory using EEG methodologies. Key research examines individual differences in brain activity underlying the auditory peak shift phenomenon (a perceptual "false memory"), with implications for sensory training protocols. She explores how cross-modal sensory interactions enhance cognitive processing and develop targeted learning interventions.

Teaching and Laboratory Leadership

Teaches core psychology courses including Sensation and Perception, Physiological Psychology, Introduction to Psychology Major, and Experimental Methods & Statistics. Directs the STING Lab (Sensory Training In Neuroscience & Generalization), which focuses on neural plasticity in multisensory learning.
