Chelsea Gibbs is a Ph.D. candidate and upcoming postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Washington. She earned an Honors Bachelor’s in Biomedical Engineering and a minor in Spanish from the University of Utah in 2019. Her research focuses on computational modeling of cardiac arrhythmias, particularly in the context of cell therapy and fibrosis.
- Education: B.S. in Biomedical Engineering, University of Utah (2019)
Chelsea’s work integrates computational simulations with machine learning to understand arrhythmia mechanisms, predict post-ablation outcomes, and assess fibrosis-induced cardiac risks. She has pioneered studies on fibrofatty substrates, stereotactic radiotherapy effects, and optogenetic modulation of cardiac excitability.
- 2021 NSF Graduate Research Foundation Fellowship awardee
Her publications span personalized digital twins, machine learning applications in cardiac diagnostics, and novel optogenetic assays. Chelsea is also engaged in collaborative projects like the PULSE-SVA initiative and explores interdisciplinary methodologies involving electrocardiogram interpretation, biomechanics, and multi-physics simulations.
