معرفی
Chelsea Davis is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the School of Materials Engineering at Purdue University. Her research focuses on molecular visualization of interfacial mechanics, including adhesion, friction, and wetting mechanisms in polymer surfaces and coatings. She utilizes custom-built mechanical testing devices integrated with optical microscopy to study polymer interfacial properties.
Education:
- Ph.D. Polymer Science and Engineering, University of Massachusetts, Amherst (2012)
- M.S. Polymer Science and Engineering, University of Massachusetts, Amherst (2007)
- B.S. Textile Engineering & B.A. Spanish Language and Literature, North Carolina State University (2005)
Research Interests: Davis’ work bridges polymer science and mechanical engineering, emphasizing the development of advanced materials for energy applications and surface engineering. Her studies on nanocomposites and interfacial mechanics have contributed to innovations in solar cell efficiency and carbon nanotube composites. Current trends in her publications highlight multiscale characterization techniques and process optimization for nanomaterials.
Advising & Teams: She mentors graduate students Nazmul Haque and Paul Mitalski. Her research group collaborates with institutions like the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the École Supérieure de Physique et de Chimie Industrielles (ESPCI).
Labs/Teams: Her research is conducted through the School of Materials Engineering’s advanced testing facilities, focusing on in situ microscopy and mechanical analysis.
