Chaz Langelier

Chaz Langelier, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor in Residence at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), affiliated with the Department of Medicine within the UCSF School of Medicine. He serves as an attending physician in the Division of Infectious Diseases and Associate Medical Director of UCSF Hospital Epidemiology and Infection Prevention. His research focuses on metagenomic sequencing to study infectious and pulmonary diseases, diagnostics development, and pathogen transmission dynamics.

• Co-investigator on an NIAID R01-funded study combining metagenomic sequencing with CRISPR/Cas9-based methods to detect TB and antimicrobial resistance in cerebrospinal fluid.
• Collaborates with institutions in Uganda, Minnesota, and the CZ-Biohub on TB meningitis pathogenesis and genomic diagnostics for HIV-positive patients.
• Develops diagnostic tools using Cas9-targeted sequencing for pneumonia and TB in resource-limited settings.
