Chase M. Heaton

Dr. Chase M. Heaton is a full-time faculty member at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. As a head and neck oncologic and reconstructive surgeon, he specializes in treating benign and malignant tumors of the oral cavity, oropharynx, larynx, thyroid, skin, and salivary glands, utilizing advanced techniques like transoral robotic surgery and microvascular reconstruction.

• Education: Undergraduate at University of Notre Dame, MD at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine, followed by residency and fellowship at UCSF.

His research focuses on clinical outcomes in head and neck surgery, with over 15 recent publications spanning topics such as fibula free flap reconstruction, HPV-associated cancers, immunotherapy biomarkers, and postoperative complications. He is also deeply involved in medical education as Faculty Education Champion and Course Director.
