Charlotte Williams is a Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Oxford's Department of Chemistry. Her research focuses on sustainable chemistry, catalysis, and polymer design, particularly utilizing carbon dioxide to create recyclable and biodegradable polymers. She leads initiatives in sustainable plastics and CO2 utilization, contributing to policy briefings and industrial partnerships.
Her honors include Fellowship of the Royal Society (2021), the Royal Society of Chemistry Tilden Prize, and an OBE for services to chemistry. She founded Econic Technologies, a company commercializing CO2-based polymers, and leads major grants like the EPSRC Leadership Fellowship and the Oxford Martin School Future of Plastics initiative.
Williams chairs the Chemical Sciences in Society Summit and advises on UK policy for sustainable plastics. Her work spans academic leadership, industrial collaboration, and public engagement through lectures and museum exhibits.
