Charlotte Hippy

Charlotte Hippy is a Temporary Teaching and Research Associate (ATER) and doctoral student at Jean Moulin Lyon 3 University, affiliated with the iaelyon School of Management and the Magellan research laboratory. She is also an associate researcher at the COACTIS laboratory and represents doctoral students at Magellan. Her academic work spans teaching and research in strategic management, organizational theory, and sustainable development.

Charlotte holds a Doctorate in Management Sciences (in progress since 2021), a Master in Research and Management Studies (REM) from IAE Montpellier (2019–2020), and a Master in Responsible Management and Development (MODR) from Université de Montpellier (2018–2020). She earned her undergraduate degree in Language Sciences from Université Paul Valery Montpellier 3 (2015–2018).

Her research centers on the dynamics of organizational transformation toward sustainability, particularly in SMEs, using paradox theory as a lens. She investigates how organizations navigate conflicting demands during sustainability transitions, especially through B-Corp certification. Her methodological approach is qualitative and longitudinal, analyzing organizational evolution across time. She is particularly interested in the unintended consequences of responses to performance paradoxes and the dynamic interplay between paradoxes, responses, and outcomes.

The recent academic outputs highlight a consistent focus on paradoxes in sustainability, B-Corp certification, and SME transformation. Her work combines theoretical depth with empirical richness, drawing on longitudinal case studies to unpack complex organizational dynamics. The trend shows increasing engagement with international academic communities and a growing contribution to sustainability and paradox literature.

Charlotte is an active member of several academic associations, including EGOS (2024), AIMS (2023–2025), RIODD (2023), CIFEPME (2022), and PREP (2025). She has participated in organizing major conferences such as CIFEPME 2022 and RRI 2025, and has presented her research in doctoral workshops and peer-reviewed conferences.

She has extensive teaching experience across multiple institutions, including Université Lyon 2 and iaelyon, delivering courses in strategic management, organizational theories, and sustainable development. She has supervised student projects and served as a thesis advisor for Master’s students. She has no recorded grants or formal advisees at this stage. Charlotte is involved in academic service through her representation of doctoral students and participation in research groups focused on sustainable innovation and strategic management.

She is a member of the Magellan research group on Strategy and Sustainable Performance and the COACTIS STR@FI and Sustainable Innovations research teams.
