Professor Charlotte Crofts is affiliated with the University of the West of England as a Professor of Cinema Arts in the Department of Arts, College of Arts, Technology and Environment. She teaches on programs such as BA (Hons) Filmmaking and MSc Sustainable Development, while leading the BAFTA Albert Educational Partnership for Sustainable Filmmaking. Her research spans screen heritage, cinema cultures, Angela Carter adaptation, and locative media.

She received recognition for inaugurating the BAFTSS Practice Research Award and contributed to UWE's REF2021 and REF2014 impact case studies through projects like the Curzon Memories App and Looking for Archie Walking Tour. As a filmmaker and creative producer, she bridges practice-based research with academic scholarship.
