Charlotte Burnside serves as Associate Professor and Head of the Operating Department Practice and Paramedic Science Department at Birmingham City University's Health Professions faculty. With over 15 years of academic experience since her 2008 appointment as Senior Lecturer, she oversees departmental management, course development, and clinical partnerships while teaching across diagnostic radiography and paramedic science programs.
Her educational qualifications include:
- BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography, University of Central England (1999)
- Pg Diploma and MSc in Advanced Practice Nuclear Imaging, Salford University (2006)
Burnside's research focuses on radionuclide imaging applications derived from her clinical background, with expanding expertise in operating department practice pedagogy and paramedic science education. She integrates leadership development and transition-to-employment strategies across health professions curricula, emphasizing clinical-academic integration through regional healthcare partnerships.
As personal tutor for Operating Department Practice students and apprentices, she provides comprehensive academic and clinical progress support.
