Dr Charlotte Bray is a postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Lincoln Theological Institute, University of Manchester. Her work bridges Catholic theological thought with contemporary issues of social sin, structural racism, and anti-racism, particularly in international development contexts. She focuses on integrating liberation theologies, political theology, and queer theory into critical analyses of power and equity.
- PhD, University of Durham (2023): Thesis on social sin in Catholic thought.
- MA in Christian Theology (Catholic Studies), University of Durham (2019).
Her current research project, 'Anti-Racism and Power in International Development: A Catholic Theological Approach,' examines how theological principles can address white savior narratives and decolonize humanitarian aid practices. Her publications include a monograph on social sin and a journal article advocating theological responses to decolonization in Christian NGOs.
Bray’s expertise aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to Education and Equity. She previously served as CAFOD’s Lead Trustee for Racial Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.
