Charlotte Braun is a Researcher at the University of Siegen, specializing in German Medieval Studies. She is affiliated with the Collaborative Research Center (SFB) 1472, particularly subproject B04: 'Popular Middle Ages: Narratives and inventories of fantasy in the media network,' and contributes to AG8 (Global Dimension of Popularity) and FW5 (Case studies). Her doctoral research, supervised by Hans Rudolf Velten, examines medieval narrative structures in Arthurian romances and modern fantasy literature.
Braun holds a dual master's degree: one in teaching (for grammar and comprehensive schools) and another in 'Literary Studies: Literature, Culture, Media' with a Middle High German focus. She also earned the Gender Certificate from the University of Siegen. Her work bridges medieval textual analysis with contemporary media, as seen in her 2025 publication analyzing gender agency in House of the Dragon.
Her research interests include fantasy literature, cultural narratives, and the intersection of medieval and modern storytelling. She has collaborated on SFB 1472 projects since 2021, initially as a student assistant and later as a research assistant.
