Charlotte Albury is an Associate Professor and THIS Institute Fellow in Clinical Communication and Health Behaviours at the University of Oxford's Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences. She also serves as an Academic Clinical Lecturer at Somerville College and Kellogg College. With expertise in medical anthropology and qualitative research methods, particularly conversation analysis, she focuses on understanding how clinical communication influences health behavior change.
Her educational background includes a BA, MSc, FHEA, PGCert in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (awarded with Distinction), and a D.Phil. She is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has extensive experience in academic teaching and training.
Dr. Albury's research primarily examines relationships between clinical communication and behavior change, with specific focus on weight loss, smoking cessation, and treatment adherence. She employs conversation analysis and other qualitative methods to understand communication dynamics in clinical settings. Currently, she teaches qualitative methods across the University and offers bespoke training through Oxford Innovations. Her research group develops evidence-based communication training for healthcare professionals working in weight management and chronic disease care.
