Charlotta Niemistö is an Associate Professor (tenure track) at the School of Business and Economics, part of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Business and Economics, and Law at Åbo Akademi University. Her research focuses on gender equality in management, work-life boundaries, and socially responsible human resource management. She actively contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to gender equality (SDG 5) and decent work (SDG 8).
Her work examines intersections of age, gender, and care in organizational contexts, including digital care networks, workplace ethics, and policies addressing digital violence. Notable projects include the EQualCare initiative exploring digital inequalities in care for older adults and studies on ethical challenges posed by digital intimate partner violence in workplaces.
Niemistö collaborates internationally, with contributions to encyclopedias like Encyclopedia of Gender and Management. Her research bridges theoretical frameworks with practical policy recommendations, emphasizing inclusive digital service design and organizational responsibility. She has published widely in journals like Journal of Business Ethics and Quality in Ageing and Older Adults.
