Charlie Croft

Dr. Charlie Croft is a Lecturer in Management at York Business School, York St John University, where he joined in 2023. His academic career follows a professional background in local government as a chief officer, focusing on civic leadership, community resilience, and innovative service delivery models. He holds an MA by Research from the University of Leeds and a PhD from York St John University.

His research explores tourism strategy, stakeholder engagement in sustainability, and the role of place narratives in human-environment interactions. He teaches on programs such as the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship (CMDA), BA(Hons) Tourism and Destination Management, and BA(Hons) Management and Leadership Research.

Croft’s work emphasizes the governance of tourism strategies and the embodied relationship between people and places. His publication in Current Issues in Tourism (2016) critiques stakeholder voice authenticity in tourism policymaking.

He supervises undergraduate dissertations and contributes to the University’s commitment to applied, socially impactful research aligned with community and environmental resilience.
