Dr Alexandra Dales is a Senior Lecturer in Business Management at York Business School (York St John University). She holds a BA Hons, MA, PGCE, and PhD. Her research focuses on economic geography, global production networks, and sustainability, with a recent emphasis on how creative industries communicate sustainability through storytelling. As Principle Investigator of the XR Stories-funded 'Sustainability Stories' project, she collaborates with the University of Leeds to explore how SMEs in creative sectors engage stakeholders via digital narratives. She specializes in qualitative methods, secondary data analysis, and stakeholder collaboration.
Dr Dales teaches modules like International Strategy and Global Dynamism (undergraduate) and Contemporary Theories in International Business (postgraduate). She supervises PhD candidates researching Palestinian entrepreneurship and resilience in conflict zones. She leads York Business School's research strategy, driving external funding and industry partnerships, and supports doctoral researchers. Her work includes presentations at conferences like the Royal Geographical Society and Oxford Retail Futures.
Her research interests span sustainability communication, economic geography, and digital disruption's impact on business. She co-designs creative outputs with industry partners and has published in journals like Economic Geography. She actively reviews for Geoforum and engages in community outreach through the University's initiatives.
