Charles Ramble is Mercator Fellow at the École Pratique des Hautes Études (EPHE) in Paris, specializing in digital preservation of cultural heritage. His work focuses on safeguarding endangered manuscripts in Nepal and Southeast Asia.
Research interests include digital archiving methodologies, anthropological studies of Himalayan communities, and preservation of written cultural heritage. He directs field projects in partnership with local communities to document and digitize at-risk manuscript collections.
Current initiatives include the DREAMSEA program for Southeast Asian manuscripts and the Nepal Heritage Documentation Project. Ramble collaborates with UNESCO and local governments to establish sustainable preservation frameworks for vulnerable cultural artifacts.
