Dr. Charles Dwayne Wilson serves as Associate Professor of Music and Director of Bands/Instrumental Studies at Campbell University. He has held this position for 20 years, teaching music education courses and overseeing the instrumental program. He also founded and leads the Sandhills Wind Symphony. Previously, he served as Executive Director of the Suncoast School of Musical Arts and Dean of the Suncoast School of Music at Trinity College of Florida. His career includes roles at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro as a teaching assistant and guest conductor.
Education: Ph.D. in Music Education & Conducting (UNC Greensboro), M.M. in Music Education & Conducting (UGA Columbus State University), B.M. in Music Education & Church Music (Tennessee Temple University). His research focuses on small college band administration, music teacher mentoring, and music therapy through therapeutic hand drumming. He developed a mentoring program for the Kansas Band Masters Association and conducts leadership workshops for arts educators.
Professional affiliations include NCMEA, NCBA, MENC, CBDNA, and ACSI. He serves as a guest conductor for ensembles like the Triangle Wind Ensemble and North Carolina Pops Orchestra, and adjudicates school music programs across the southeast.
