Charles Dana Samuelson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Oslo, specializing in Method, Work, Cultural, and Social Psychology. He holds a PhD from the University of California, Santa Barbara (1986). Previously, he served as Associate Professor Emeritus at Texas A&M University (2019–present) and held various roles there from 1986 to 2018, including leadership in graduate studies and interdisciplinary research. His research focuses on behavioral decision-making, climate change mitigation, social norms, and sustainable consumption. Current projects include the EMPOWER initiative on EV battery strategies and the Wind for Future project on youth engagement in renewable energy. He teaches courses such as PSY 4111 (Applied Social Psychology) and PSY 4130 (Promoting Change Through Social Psychology).
Education: B.S. Psychology (Tufts, 1981), M.A. Social Psychology (UCSB, 1984), Ph.D. Social Psychology (UCSB, 1986).
Research Interests: Behavioral aspects of climate change, social dilemmas in resource management, group dynamics, and collaborative processes. His work explores societal transitions to sustainability, including energy systems and consumer decision-making around EV batteries and wind energy.
Grants & Collaborations: Funded by UiO:Energy for interdisciplinary projects. Engages high school students in co-designing regional energy systems to foster social acceptance of renewables.
