Dr. Charles Brown is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Albright College, affiliated with the Department of Sociology within the College of Arts and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Southern Illinois University. His research focuses on religion, cultural sociology, and mass media, particularly analyzing the intersection of Christianity with popular culture, the sociology of the paranormal, and extreme sports. He currently serves as book review editor for the Journal of Religion and Popular Culture and advises Albright’s chapter of Alpha Kappa Delta, the international sociology honors society.
Education: Ph.D. in Sociology (Southern Illinois University), with comprehensive exams in cultural sociology, sociology of religion, social theory, and sociology of organizations.
Teaching: Courses include SOC101 (Introduction to Sociology), SOC210 (Research Methods), SOC213 (Social Theory), SOC230 (Cultural Sociology), SOC231 (Cults and New Religious Movements), SOC333 (Sociology of Religion), and SOC490 (Senior Seminar).
