معرفی
Charel Wohl is a Senior Research Fellow at the School of Environmental Sciences, University of East Anglia. He completed his PhD in 2021 on volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in polar regions, followed by a postdoctoral position in Barcelona studying the ocean's sulfur cycle. Since 2023, he has been working with PTR-MS instrumentation under Dave Oram, preparing for the CARES campaign on the FAAM aircraft to measure atmospheric VOCs. His research focuses on high-resolution measurements of VOCs in polar regions and the atmosphere using advanced mass spectrometry techniques, with applications to climate system understanding.
- Education: PhD from Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML) and University of East Anglia (UEA), supervised by Ming-xi Yang and Bill Sturges
- Postdoctoral Research: ICM-CSIC, Barcelona, with Rafel Simo
Research Interests:
Dr. Wohl specializes in atmospheric and marine VOC dynamics, air-sea gas exchange, and climate system interactions. He develops innovative measurement techniques like the segmented flow coil equilibrator coupled with PTR-MS to quantify dissolved and atmospheric VOCs. Recent work emphasizes understanding sulfur cycle processes and pollution impacts in marine environments.
Key Projects:
- Biostimulant for abiotic stress (2024–2025): Collaborating on crop resilience solutions with Ceres Agri-Tech
Instrumentation & Campaigns:
Leading efforts to deploy PTR-MS instruments during the FAAM aircraft-based CARES campaign, targeting high-resolution VOC measurements in polar regions and upper atmospheric layers.
