Charalambous Hara

Hara Charalambous is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), where she has been affiliated since 2011. She holds a PhD in Mathematics (1990) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a BSc in Mathematics (1984) from AUTH. Her research focuses on Commutative Algebra and Algebraic Geometry, with significant contributions to multigraded modules, toric ideals, and homological algebra.

Her research explores extremal Betti numbers, lattice ideals, and topological constructions in commutative algebra. Key trends include applications to monomial ideals, combinatorial algebra, and multigraded structures.

She has served on the editorial team of the Bulletin of the Hellenic Mathematical Society, as an NSF proposal evaluation committee member, and as a reviewer for international journals. She has co-organized conferences and workshops and held leadership roles, including Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Chair of the School of Mathematics at AUTH.
