Chris Francisco is a Professor of Mathematics and Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs at Oklahoma State University. His office is located at 101 Whitehurst, and he can be contacted via email at chris.francisco@okstate.edu or phone at (405) 744-5627.
He completed his Ph.D. in Mathematics at Cornell University in 2004 under Mike Stillman, focusing on Hilbert functions and minimal graded free resolutions. Previously, he earned dual undergraduate degrees in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1999, where Graham Evans mentored him in commutative algebra.
Francisco's research specializes in commutative algebra with strong computational and combinatorial connections. Primary interests include:
- Monomial ideals and their algebraic properties
- Combinatorial commutative algebra applications
- Development of computational tools like Macaulay2
- Interactions between graph theory and algebra
His publications demonstrate consistent focus on algebraic combinatorics, with recent trends including:
- Geometric aspects of commutative algebra (hyperplane arrangements, Grassmannians)
- Computational algebra software development
- Combinatorial structures in algebra (graphs, simplicial complexes)
- Homological and structural properties of ideals
