Chaofeng Yang

Chaofeng Yang, Ph.D., serves as an Instructor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and is a member of the Division of Endocrinology. He joined the faculty in 2017 as an Assistant Instructor and was promoted to Instructor in 2019.

His educational background:

• Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology from China Agricultural University, Beijing
• Master's degree in Biochemistry from China Agricultural University, Beijing
• Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from Texas A&M Health Science Center

Dr. Yang's research centers on lipid droplet proteins and their critical roles in cellular lipid metabolism and metabolic syndrome development. Using mouse models, his work investigates molecular pathways linking lipid storage disorders to metabolic diseases, aiming to identify novel therapeutic targets for conditions like obesity and diabetes.

He has not publicly disclosed graduate students or major research grants. His current research continues within the Division of Endocrinology at UT Southwestern, building on his postdoctoral work in Dr. Perry Bickel's laboratory studying lipid droplet proteins.
