Chaochao Ye is a Research Fellow (Postdoc) in the Department of Electrical and Photonics Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). He is affiliated with the Nanophotonic Devices Centre of Excellence for Silicon Photonics for Optical Communications, where he conducts research on integrated photonic devices for optical communications. His current work focuses on nonlinear optical phenomena in semiconductor waveguides and microresonators.
Ye's primary research interests lie in the field of integrated photonics, with a specialization in nonlinear optics and nanophotonic device engineering. He investigates the properties of AlGaAs-on-insulator platforms for applications such as optical frequency comb generation, wavelength conversion, and second-harmonic generation. His work addresses critical challenges including thermal management and efficiency enhancement in photonic integrated circuits, aiming to develop practical solutions for next-generation optical communication systems.
Recent publications by Ye (2025) demonstrate a strong focus on advancing the capabilities of AlGaAs-on-insulator microresonators. Key contributions include the development of high-power dissipative Kerr soliton sources, efficient wavelength conversion schemes without data rate limitations, and thermally robust designs for soliton comb generation. These works collectively push the boundaries of integrated nonlinear photonics, with implications for compact and energy-efficient optical signal processing.
Ye completed his PhD in 2024 under the project "Ultra-Low-Threshold Frequency Comb Generation in AlGaAs-on-Insulator Platform", supervised by Professor Minhao Pu and co-supervised by Professor Kresten Yvind. During his doctoral studies, he made significant contributions to the field of integrated frequency combs. As a postdoc, he continues to collaborate within the same research group and center of excellence.
Ye is an active member of the Nanophotonic Devices Centre of Excellence for Silicon Photonics for Optical Communications at DTU. This center brings together experts in photonics, materials science, and optical communications to develop cutting-edge integrated photonic technologies. His work within this collaborative environment leverages state-of-the-art fabrication and characterization facilities for advancing silicon photonics platforms.
