معرفی
Changjoo Kim is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography at the University of Cincinnati (2012–present), where he also served as Undergraduate Director (2012–2014) and Graduate Director (2015–present). His research spans geographic information science (GIS), urban transportation, network reliability, spatiotemporal modeling, and economic geography, with applications to commuting, retail, air passenger flows, and environmental monitoring.
- PhD: The Ohio State University (2004, Geography)
Kim’s work integrates GIS methods to analyze urban and economic phenomena, including traffic patterns, food deserts, rapid transit resilience, and Arctic climate impacts. His recent publications focus on multiscale spatial modeling, pandemic-era mobility shifts, and activity space analysis for healthy food access. Earlier studies examined network autocorrelation in commodity flows and spatiotemporal crime reduction effects of CCTV.
His funded projects include a $966,000 NSF grant (2011–2015) for the Circumarctic Lakes Observation Network (CALON) and local contracts like the Hamilton County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan (2012–2013). Awards include Best Paper recognitions at ASBBS (2007) and AAG (2003), alongside scholarships from CSISS and Ohio State University.
- Scientific Awards:
- Best Paper, ASBBS (2007)
- CSISS SPACE Workshop Scholarship (2006)
- Best Paper, AAG Student Competition (2003)
- Ohio State Summer Research Fund (2003)
Kim contributed to editorial boards for journals like the International Journal of Applied Geospatial Research and served on the Spatial Analysis and Modeling Specialty Group at AAG. His teaching includes advanced GIS, urban-economic applications, and internet mapping courses.
