Chandrika Kumar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine - Geriatric Medicine at Yale School of Medicine. She serves as Associate Program Director of the Clinical Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine. Her work focuses on curriculum development in geriatrics across inpatient and outpatient settings, including interdisciplinary collaboration with audiology, physiatry, and chiropractic disciplines. She contributes to Yale’s medical school curriculum reforms, particularly in the 'Across the Lifespan' course. Dr. Kumar holds an MD from Kilpauk Medical College (1995), completed residency at the University of Connecticut (2003), and a fellowship at Yale (2009).
Her research emphasizes geriatric education and clinical care innovations, with notable publications on LGBTQ+ health in geriatrics and drug-related nephropathies. She received the 2023 Outstanding Junior Clinician Educator Award. Collaborations include the Dorothy Adler Geriatric Assessment Center and Veterans Administration multidisciplinary teams.
