Dr. Chaitanya Paruchuri is an Associate Professor and Royal Academy of Engineering Research Fellow at the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR), University of Southampton. He leads the Acoustics Group and contributes to the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre in Gas Turbine Noise, focusing on aerofoil noise, UAV/drone noise, and duct acoustics. His work has resulted in seven patents related to aerofoil noise and innovative low-noise propeller/aerofoil designs.
- Education: MSc in Technical Acoustics (Indian Institute of Science, 2010), BSc in Mechanical Engineering (Osmania University, 2008)
- Positions: Associate Professor (2023–present), Lecturer (2019–2023), Research Fellow (2017–2019)
His research in aeroacoustics spans fan noise, duct acoustics, and noise control, with a focus on developing quieter propeller configurations for urban mobility transport systems. Recent work explores over-tip liners, synchrophasing, and porosity-based noise reduction mechanisms.
Recent publications include studies on tip leakage noise, shrouded propeller liners, and porosity applications. Awards include the Royal Academy of Engineering Research Fellowship (2019), Vice-Chancellor Award (2020), and Dean Award (2022), recognizing his research and teaching contributions.
- Research Grants: EPSRC-funded projects on aeroacoustics and ducted fans
- Teaching: Thermofluids modules (SESM2017, FEEG2003), supervising 4–5 IP, 2–3 MSc, and 1 GDP project annually
