Dr. Chad Bolding is a Professor and Langdale Endowed Chair in Forest Business at the University of Georgia. His research focuses on applied forest business challenges, including operational safety, productivity, logistics, and efficiency improvements. He also investigates supply chain management, biomass utilization, and the environmental impacts of forest operations. Key areas include analyzing best management practices (BMPs) to mitigate erosion and ecological disturbances during harvesting.
His work bridges academia and industry, addressing real-world forestry logistics, wood pellet production, and transportation safety. He collaborates with stakeholders like truck drivers, logging businesses, and regulators to develop innovative solutions. Recent projects include evaluating wood flow management software and assessing biomass harvesting’s sustainability in meeting international renewable energy targets.
Dr. Bolding’s contributions extend to public service, such as advising on post-hurricane timber casualty losses and analyzing Georgia’s sawtimber market trends. He is affiliated with the Center for Forest Business, which supports the industry through education, research, and outreach.
