Ceyhan Kahya is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Meteorological Engineering, Istanbul Technical University. His research focuses on environmental science, remote sensing, solar energy forecasting, and climate modeling. Key areas include urban dynamics, drought analysis, air quality, and WRF model applications. He has contributed to studies on surface urban heat islands, particulate matter analysis, and structural engineering failure investigations.
His work integrates remote sensing data with meteorological models to address environmental challenges such as drought monitoring in the Ergene Basin and solar irradiance forecasting in Turkey. He also explores the relationship between artificial surfaces and land surface temperature, emphasizing urban climatology. With 11 research outputs since 2005, his contributions span environmental engineering, atmospheric science, and interdisciplinary applications.
Current research includes spatiotemporal hotspot analysis in Istanbul's urban development and postprocessing of WRF forecasts using machine learning techniques. His studies often address sustainability challenges, such as water footprints in dairy production and Antarctic air quality analysis.
Dr. Kahya supervises 5 ongoing theses and collaborates on projects involving model output statistics, aerosol impacts on solar energy, and structural integrity assessments. His work bridges theoretical climate science with practical applications in renewable energy and environmental policy.
