Celso Delgado, Jr. is a Clinical Professor of Occupational Therapy at the USC Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy. He specializes in community-based mental health, psychiatric rehabilitation, and culturally responsive healthcare for Spanish-speaking populations. Dr. Delgado teaches courses in mental health practice, reflection in practice, and healthcare communication, while mentoring graduate students in fieldwork and doctoral residencies. He holds a Doctorate of Occupational Therapy (OTD) from USC (2010), alongside earlier degrees from the same institution.
His research focuses on adapting clinical tools for Latino communities, such as the Latin-American Spanish MYMOP assessment. He has contributed to studies on integrating lived experience into occupational therapy education and sustainable university-community partnerships. Dr. Delgado received the 2017 OTAC Vision Award and serves as Board Certified in Mental Health (ACOT). He also advises Troy Camp, a mentorship program for underserved youth, and currently acts as Faculty-in-Residence to foster undergraduate engagement.
Dr. Delgado’s work emphasizes reducing health disparities and advancing inclusive pedagogical practices. His collaborations span USC’s University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities and community mental health programs in Los Angeles County.
