Celia B. Fisher is a Professor of Psychology and Marie Ward Doty University Chair in Ethics at Fordham University, leading the Center for Ethics Education and the HIV/Drug Abuse Prevention Research Ethics Institute. Her roles include directing federally funded research programs focused on ethical issues in health disparities, HIV/AIDS prevention, and vulnerable populations. She holds appointments in the College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Psychology.
Her research emphasizes ethical challenges in biomedical and social science research, particularly among marginalized groups such as racial minorities, LGBTQ+ communities, and individuals with substance use disorders. Key areas include vaccine hesitancy, informed consent processes, and the intersection of racism and public health crises like the pandemic.
Recent work addresses mental health disparities during the pandemic, including racial bias experiences and vaccine hesitancy. She has authored over 300 publications, including Decoding the Ethics Code: A Practical Guide for Psychologists, and serves on national ethics committees for NIH, APA, and the EPA.
